About the Role

Our client, a welcoming nursery in Plymouth , is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for the children in their care. This role is responsible for planning menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of children aged 0-5, ensuring all food is prepared to the highest standards of hygiene and safety. You will manage the nursery kitchen, maintain stock levels, and ensure compliance with all food safety regulations. This is a crucial role that contributes directly to the well-being and development of the children, creating positive eating experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare daily menus, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks, catering to a wide range of dietary requirements and allergies.
• Ensure all food is prepared safely, hygienically, and to a high standard, adhering to food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP).
• Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records of stock and expenditure.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
• Develop positive relationships with children, staff, and parents regarding dietary matters.
• Keep up-to-date with best practices in child nutrition and food safety.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a professional kitchen environment.
• Experience or knowledge of preparing meals for young children and understanding of nutritional needs.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
• A passion for healthy eating and creating enjoyable mealtime experiences.
