Academics are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join a successful team, supporting a trust of SEN/SEMH schools across Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to work with primary and secondary-aged pupils who have a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
As part of a multidisciplinary approach, you will play a vital role in helping children and young people develop the skills they need to thrive in school, at home, and within their communities.
Responsibilities
- Assess pupils' sensory processing, motor skills, functional abilities and participation in school activities.
- Develop and implement individualised intervention programmes.
- Support children with autism, SEMH needs and complex behavioural presentations.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, parents and external professionals.
- Provide practical strategies and training to school staff to support pupils in the classroom.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), reports and annual reviews where appropriate.
- Promote inclusive practice and enable pupils to achieve their full potential.
Requirements
- HCPC-registered as an Occupational Therapist.
- Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Experienced in paediatrics, education or working with children with autism, SEMH and/or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential).
- Confident working independently while also enjoying being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
- An excellent communicator with strong assessment and report-writing skills.
- Flexible, organised and committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred care.
