About the Role
Our client is seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Offshore Wind Turbine Technician to join their expanding operations team based in or near Cardiff . This role is crucial for the maintenance and repair of wind turbines located offshore, ensuring maximum energy generation and operational efficiency. You will be part of a dedicated team working in a challenging but rewarding environment, contributing to the growth of renewable energy in the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively at heights and in marine conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on offshore wind turbines.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on turbine systems.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and protocols, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure optimal turbine performance.
- Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Participate in emergency response procedures as required.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Maintenance.
- Proven experience as a technician, preferably within the wind energy sector or heavy industry.
- Certification for working at heights, GWO Basic Safety Training (BST), and first aid are essential.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, with experience in hydraulics and control systems.
- Ability to work offshore, including offshore survival certification.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and teamwork capabilities.
