Paediatric Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist

To provide care, support, advice and education in the acute setting for children and young people with Respiratory conditions such as asthma, wheeze and long-term ventilation. The role will include working within a multidisciplinary Respiratory team and as part of the Paediatric Specialist Nurses workforce cross-site. Cross-site Respiratory Nurse cover and working is essential. The post holder will be required to support the wider team and be involved in the care of all patients under the Respiratory Nursing team.

Main Duties

• To provide professional, high quality co- ordinated patient care to children & their families, aiming to improve the management of their long- term condition, within agreed protocols and allocated resources together with the nursing and clinical lead and colleagues.
• Liaising with tertiary centre regarding shared-care patients on Long term ventilation (LTV).
• To review children and young people admitted to hospital with a diagnosis of asthma, with the aim to support early discharge so that they can be managed in their own home and reduce the likelihood of readmissions. To provide appropriate information, education, advice and support particularly to the patients and parents.
