Job title: Parts planner
Location: Port Talbot, Swansea
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm, Friday 8:00am–2:30pm
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Parts Planner to join a well-established and busy material handling business in Swansea.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for identifying, sourcing and ordering parts required by engineers and customers, while ensuring jobs are progressed efficiently and parts are available when needed.
We are looking for someone with strong parts experience, ideally from the forklift, plant, agricultural or automotive industries. You will need to be organised, technically minded and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
Establishing part numbers and identifying the correct parts required for repairs
Liaising with engineers to understand parts requirements
Sourcing and pricing parts for customer quotations
Ordering parts for approved quotations and stock replenishment
Providing parts for over-the-counter sales
Ordering tyres, attachments, cabs and automotive parts
Purchasing sundry and consumable items
Monitoring stock levels and re-ordering as required
Arranging transportation for parts, returns and dispatches
Managing warranty returns
Arranging the re-working of parts such as radiators and seats
Logging customer breakdowns and arranging engineer attendance
Understanding customer locations and prioritising urgent requirements
Communicating with suppliers regarding availability and lead times
Dealing with supplier representatives, including obtaining quotations and negotiating pricing and terms
Providing support to engineers with urgent parts enquiries throughout the day
Issuing purchase/order numbers when required
Carrying out stores counter duties
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring paperwork is processed promptly
Using parts manuals, supplier portals and online resources to identify and source components
What We're Looking For
Previous experience working in a parts-based role is essential
Strong product and parts identification skills
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Strong attention to detail and good document management
A professional and confident telephone manner
The ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
Good communication skills when dealing with engineers, customers and suppliers
Package
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000
40-hour working week
