Summary
Barnet Council is in search of a skilled Passenger Fleet Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of its Passenger Transport Service. This position is crucial for ensuring the fleet's operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations. The role involves supporting transport management, supervising staff, monitoring contractors, and enhancing service delivery. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in providing top-notch transport services to vulnerable users, ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and superior customer service.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily management of the Passenger Fleet Service.
- Ensure adequate resources are available to meet operational needs.
- Aid in planning and optimizing transport routes.
- Monitor contractor performance and adherence to service standards.
- Conduct compliance audits and service evaluations.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
- Support transport booking and scheduling activities.
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements and transport protocols.
Fleet Management & Compliance
- Ensure fleet vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and meet legal standards.
- Oversee vehicle inspections, maintenance, and MOT compliance.
- Ensure vehicles meet:
- Public Service Vehicle standards
- Transport legislation
- LEZ requirements
- Wheelchair accessibility regulations
- LOLER standards for tail lifts
Staff Supervision
- Supervise:
- Driver Team Leader
- Drivers
- Passenger Escorts
Financial & Performance Monitoring
- Monitor transport budgets and expenditures.
- Assist with processing financial transactions and purchase orders.
- Generate operational, financial, and performance reports.
- Support service reviews and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Track transport performance against KPIs and service targets.
- Investigate complaints, incidents, and service inquiries.
- Communicate with:
- Parents and carers
- Schools
- Day Centres
- Contractors
- Service Commissioners
- Internal Departments
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of fleet, routes, and operations.
- Prepare meeting minutes, reports, letters, and correspondence.
- Utilize transport and fleet management systems effectively.
- Assist with monthly operational and financial reporting.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Experience in Passenger Transport, Fleet Operations, Transport Coordination, or Transport Management.
- Proven ability to supervise staff and manage transport activities.
- Knowledge of:
- Passenger Transport Services
- Fleet Management
- Transport Compliance
- Driver Management
- Health & Safety
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Work between 06:30 and 19:00, Monday to Friday, as required.
- Work split shifts when necessary.
- Participate in standby cover arrangements.
- Travel between Oakleigh Depot and North London Business Park.
