About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join the esteemed culinary team of a critically acclaimed fine dining restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be responsible for crafting exquisite desserts, pastries, and baked goods that complement the restaurant's sophisticated menu, contributing significantly to the overall dining experience. This role requires a high level of creativity, precision, and a dedication to artistic presentation, working in a kitchen renowned for its commitment to gastronomic excellence and innovative cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and present a variety of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and confections.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop seasonal dessert menus and specials.
- Ensure consistent quality, taste, and visual appeal of all pastry items.
- Manage pastry section inventory, ordering, and stock control to minimize waste and control costs.
- Maintain impeccable standards of hygiene and sanitation in the pastry kitchen.
- Train and mentor junior pastry cooks and kitchen assistants.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Senior Pastry Cook in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
- Strong portfolio showcasing creative and technically proficient pastry creations.
- Expertise in classical and contemporary pastry techniques, including baking, chocolate work, and sugar craft.
- Excellent understanding of flavor profiles, ingredient pairings, and dessert composition.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant culinary qualifications and a deep passion for pastry arts.
