About the Role
Our client seeks a meticulous Payroll Accountant to manage end-to-end payroll processing for their UK-wide workforce. This fully remote role ensures timely and accurate payment of salaries, compliance with HMRC regulations, and accurate accounting for all payroll-related transactions. You will be responsible for maintaining payroll systems, resolving queries, and ensuring all statutory deductions and payments are handled correctly. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has a strong understanding of payroll legislation, and thrives in an independent remote working setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accurate and timely weekly/monthly payroll for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with all HMRC regulations, including PAYE, NICs, and pensions auto-enrolment.
- Manage payroll system updates and ensure data integrity.
- Reconcile payroll reports and post relevant journals to the general ledger.
- Handle employee payroll queries and provide excellent customer service.
- Liaise with external providers for statutory compliance and year-end procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll processing, ideally within an accounting or HR function.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation and tax requirements.
- Experience with payroll software such as Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll, or similar.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping as it relates to payroll.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to manage workload effectively in a remote environment .
