About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and reliable Payroll Administrator to manage all aspects of payroll processing for their employees in Reading . This vital role ensures that all staff are paid accurately and on time, in compliance with current legislation and company policies. You will be responsible for processing payroll, managing employee data, handling queries, and liaising with HMRC. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll procedures, excellent administrative skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in a busy finance department. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the payroll function within a supportive organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly or monthly payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring all statutory deductions are correct.
- Manage employee data changes, including new starters, leavers, and amendments to pay or deductions.
- Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pensions auto-enrolment.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees and external bodies in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to management and relevant authorities, such as HMRC .
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with the payroll year-end process.
Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll administration, preferably within a UK environment.
- Strong knowledge of current UK payroll legislation and procedures.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to handle employee queries effectively.
