About the Role
Our client requires a meticulous Payroll Administrator to support their finance operations in Sunderland . This role is key to ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all payroll activities, adhering to statutory regulations and company policies. You will manage the full payroll cycle, from data input and processing to reconciliation and query resolution, working within a hybrid model that combines office presence with remote flexibility. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to contribute to a reputable organisation and develop within the Accounting and Finance sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately, including new starters, leavers, and changes to terms.
- Ensure compliance with current tax and National Insurance legislation, including statutory deductions.
- Manage employee expenses, benefits, and pension contributions accurately within the payroll system.
- Respond to employee payroll queries promptly and professionally, providing clear explanations.
- Perform regular payroll reconciliations and assist with year-end payroll procedures (P60s, P11Ds).
- Maintain up-to-date records and documentation for all payroll-related activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator or in a similar payroll processing role.
- Thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax codes, and National Insurance contributions.
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g.,)': ADP, Sage Payroll, Star) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive employee relations.
