About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Payroll Specialist to support their HR and finance functions in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to statutory requirements. You will work within a hybrid model, balancing office-based responsibilities with the flexibility of remote work, ensuring smooth payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly or monthly payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Manage employee data changes, including new starters, leavers, and salary adjustments.
- Calculate and process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, and SPP.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve any discrepancies or queries.
- Liaise with HMRC and other relevant bodies regarding payroll matters.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a payroll processing role, preferably using specific payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, ADP).
- Good understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pensions.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
