JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a married man in my late 60s living in the Llandaff North area of Cardiff. I have moderate cognitive impairment and short-term memory loss due to a brain injury. I have reduced mobility and I am at risk of falling. I have occasional bladder incontinence so I may need help going to the toilet. I enjoy eating out, going to the cinema and watching cricket and rugby.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I need someone to support me with activities outside my home.

PLACE OF WORK

My local community is Llandaff North / Whitchurch. I also enjoy travelling by bus or train to nearby places.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 15 hours a week of support agreed, to be spread over three days.

RATE OF PAY

£15.70 per hour.

TASKS INVOLVED

• To accompany me on outings and to non-medical appointments.
• To assist me with activities outside the home, e.g. shopping.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

• Reliable and punctual.
• Patient and understanding.
• Friendly, sociable and a good sense of humour.
• Training in falls awareness would be an advantage.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part‑time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Support cannot be carried out in the personal assistant’s own home.
