Personal Assistant / Support Worker Needed – Weekend & School Holiday Hours
We are seeking a kind, energetic and reliable Personal Assistant to support a happy 14‑year‑old young man with autism who is deaf and uses gestures/BSL and a VOCA to communicate. He enjoys swimming and water-based activities, travelling on public transport (especially trains), and accessing community activities to build appropriate social interactions.
Hours:
- Term time: 5 hours per week on one weekend day (single 5‑hour block)
- School holidays (excluding summer): 10 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days
- Summer holidays: 15 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days
The role includes:
- Support accessing community and leisure activities
- Making outings fun, engaging and safe
- Providing personal care, including support with incontinence
- Encouraging independence and social interaction at an appropriate level
About you:
- Have life experience and good risk/safety awareness
- Essential experience supporting children with autism
- Experience with deaf or non‑verbal children is advantageous but not required
- Physically able to support active outings such as swimming
- Patient, caring and confident
- No driver required
An Enhanced DBS and references will be necessary.
