Pharmaceutical Process Chemist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Pharmaceutical Process Chemist to join their manufacturing sciences team in Portsmouth . This role is critical for optimizing and scaling up chemical synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). You will focus on improving process efficiency, safety, and robustness, ensuring reliable and cost-effective production. This is an excellent opportunity for a process chemistry expert to contribute to the manufacturing excellence of vital pharmaceutical products in a collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for APIs, focusing on yield, purity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct process safety assessments and implement measures to mitigate risks.
• Scale-up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
• Ensure all process development activities comply with relevant GMP and HSE regulations.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
• Experience with process scale-up, troubleshooting, and technology transfer.
• Familiarity with GMP guidelines and process safety management.
