Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design Engineer
Location: UK | Full-time
A leading global technology and research organisation is seeking a PIC Design Engineer to join its advanced photonics R&D team.
You’ll work on the design and development of III-V and hybrid photonic integrated circuits , with a strong focus on optoelectronic device design, mask layout and design automation.
Key Responsibilities
Design PICs and active/passive III-V photonic components.
Develop semiconductor mask layouts and PDK components .
Work with design and fabrication teams to define mask sets and design rules.
Automate design workflows using Python .
Support technology development, NPI and external research collaborations.
Requirements
PhD in photonics, semiconductor devices, optoelectronics or a related field.
Strong knowledge of waveguides, modulators, detectors and passive photonic devices .
Experience with KLayout, Nazca or equivalent layout/design tools .
Strong Python programming skills .
Excellent technical/report-writing skills.
Desirable
3+ years’ experience in photonics or semiconductor device development.
Experience with PDK development and version control .
Knowledge of optical communications and III-V fabrication/epitaxy.
Industry or academic experience in photonics, telecoms or semiconductors.
