Are you an experienced Production Planner, Supply Chain Planner or Materials Planner who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment?
Do you have strong planning and analytical skills, experience working with SAP APO or similar planning systems, and the ability to balance customer demand against production capacity and inventory?
We're supporting a global manufacturing organisation in Petersfield who are looking to recruit a Short Range Planner to join their Planning team.
This is a great opportunity to take ownership of short-term production planning, working across Production, Scheduling, Materials Planning and Supply Management to ensure customer demand is met while maintaining efficient manufacturing operations.
What's the role all about?
As the Short Range Planner, you'll be responsible for developing and managing short-term production plans across assigned manufacturing work centres.
You'll take customer demand and turn it into realistic, achievable production plans, considering capacity, inventory, materials and operational constraints.
You'll work closely with multiple teams across the business, identifying potential supply or capacity issues, managing priorities and ensuring everyone has clear visibility of what needs to be produced and when.
This is a busy and analytical role where you'll need to be comfortable working with large volumes of data while also communicating effectively with stakeholders across the manufacturing operation.
Key responsibilities
Develop and maintain short-term production plans for assigned work centres
Ensure production plans are realistic and achievable within operational constraints
Communicate production priorities to Scheduling and Production teams
Coordinate production requirements to ensure customer demand is met efficiently
Monitor and coordinate external production activities
Support achievement of customer service level targets
Raise and monitor inter-company orders to maintain continuity of supply
Monitor inter-plant shipments and Work in Progress (WIP) inventory
Participate in daily scheduling meetings, weekly production meetings and supply planning reviews
Take ownership of Supply Attainment performance for assigned work centres
Identify capacity constraints and work with operational teams to develop solutions
Work closely with Work Centre Managers, Materials Planning and Supply Management teams
Maintain accurate planning master data including MOQ, EPQ, run rates, effectivity dates and MRP information
Manage product phase-in and phase-out activity
Maintain appropriate inventory levels across intermediate and finished products
Monitor and report potential inventory liabilities
Create and manage deviations, quality notifications and rework orders
Support inventory optimisation and management of excess stock What you'll need
To succeed in this role, you'll ideally bring:
Previous experience within Production Planning, Supply Chain Planning, Materials Planning or Demand Planning
Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Experience using SAP APO or a similar production/planning system
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Confidence managing and analysing large volumes of data
Good understanding of production and supply chain planning
Knowledge of inventory management principles
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to build effective relationships across multiple departments
