Planning Officer3-Month Initial Contract£40.00 - £50.00 per hour UmbrellaHybrid Working
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Planning Officer to join a Local Authority on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with experience managing a varied caseload of planning applications, appeals, and pre-application enquiries within a local government environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine a range of planning applications, Listed Building Consents, Advertisement Consents, prior approvals, and Certificates of Lawfulness.
- Provide pre-application advice to residents, developers, agents, councillors, and stakeholders.
- Manage planning appeals, predominantly through written representations.
- Conduct site visits, investigations, and planning research.
- Prepare and present reports to Planning Committee.
- Negotiate Section 106 Agreements and support the implementation of CIL requirements.
- Liaise with statutory consultees, planning agents, and members of the public.
- Keep up to date with planning legislation, policy, and appeal decisions.
About You:
- Previous experience working as a Planning Officer within a Local Authority.
- Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
- Experience handling a varied planning caseload independently.
- Planning appeal and committee report experience.
- Experience of Green Belt applications would be highly desirable.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
