Policy and Advocacy Officer

About the Role

Our client is a leading charitable organisation focused on influencing positive change through research and advocacy in Oxford . We are seeking an astute and dedicated Policy and Advocacy Officer to strengthen our voice and impact on key issues affecting our beneficiaries. This hybrid role involves conducting in-depth research, developing policy positions, and engaging with policymakers, stakeholders, and the media to promote our client's agenda. You will be instrumental in shaping public discourse and driving policy reform, contributing to lasting societal improvements in Oxfordshire and nationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development and advocacy strategies.
• Draft policy papers, briefings, and reports for internal and external audiences.
• Engage with government officials, parliamentarians, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy change.
• Develop and maintain relationships with partner organisations and coalitions.
• Monitor relevant policy developments and their potential impact on our work.
• Support the organisation's public affairs and campaigns efforts.

Requirements

• Experience in policy analysis, research, or advocacy, preferably within the charity or public sector.
• Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
• Excellent understanding of policy-making processes.
• Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade.
• Knowledge of the political landscape relevant to our client's mission.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid remote and office-based setting.
