Job Description
I’m recruiting for a Power Systems Engineer to join a dedicated specialist Power Systems team within a well-established and growing Building Services & Low Carbon Engineering Consultancy .
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with experience in power systems, electrical distribution and network modelling who wants exposure to technically challenging projects across a wide variety of sectors.
You’ll work on everything from LV and HV distribution networks through to embedded generation, substations, protection studies and resilient power systems .
The role:
- Electrical distribution network design from LV up to 132kV
- Distribution substation and cable network design
- Network modelling and simulation
- Load flow and fault level analysis
- Protection, selectivity and grading studies
- Arc Flash assessments and harmonic analysis
- Embedded generation projects including G99 applications
- Substation earthing design
- Standby generation and resilient network design
- Liaising and negotiating with DNOs on new connections and capacity upgrades
- Producing technical reports, specifications and drawings
- Site surveys, commissioning support and installation inspections
- Providing specialist power systems advice to wider engineering teams
What I'm looking for:
- Degree in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience within an electrical/power systems engineering environment
- Experience with ETAP, IPSA+, ERACS, PowerFactory, Trimble, ElectricalOM or similar
- Revit advantageous but not essential
- Understanding of load flow, fault level and protection studies
- Embedded generation / G99 knowledge highly advantageous
- Strong technical and client-facing communication skills
