About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent Power Systems Analyst to join their forward-thinking team, working remotely from Reading . This role is vital for understanding and predicting the behaviour of complex electrical power systems, ensuring their stability and efficiency as they integrate more renewable energy sources. You will perform detailed analyses, simulations, and modelling to support grid planning, operation, and the development of new energy technologies. This is an exceptional opportunity for an analytical engineer to contribute to the resilience and future of the energy network from a flexible remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive power system studies , including load flow, short circuit, stability, and harmonic analysis.
- Develop and maintain power system models using industry-standard software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD).
- Analyze the impact of new generation sources, including renewables and energy storage, on grid performance and reliability.
- Provide technical recommendations for grid upgrades, operational strategies, and system planning.
- Support the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and assess their impact on the network.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system analysis and planning.
- Proficiency in power system simulation software and a strong understanding of power system dynamics.
- Knowledge of grid codes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Experience with renewable energy technologies and their integration challenges is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, suitable for a remote role.
