Power Systems Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their established team based in Milton Keynes . This is an on-site position where you will contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of robust power systems for a variety of industrial and commercial applications. You will be at the forefront of developing reliable energy solutions, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to stringent safety standards. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about power infrastructure and looking to grow within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power distribution systems, substations, and protection schemes.
• Perform load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and transient stability studies for power systems.
• Specify and select power system equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety codes.
• Collaborate with project teams to oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of power systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues within existing power infrastructure.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• 5-10 years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
• Strong knowledge of power system protection, fault analysis, and grid integration.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or similar.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an on-site engineering team.
