About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their established engineering team based in our Leeds facility. This role is critical for the design, analysis, and implementation of robust electrical power systems that support critical infrastructure and industrial operations. You will work closely with project managers and site engineers to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of power distribution networks, substations, and associated equipment. This position requires a strong on-site presence to facilitate direct collaboration with field teams and hands-on problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical power systems, including distribution, protection, and control schemes.
- Perform load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and stability studies for power networks.
- Specify and select electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and generators.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments of existing power infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project teams to deliver high-quality power system solutions on time and within budget.
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PowerFactory).
- Strong understanding of high voltage equipment and protection relays.
- Experience with substation design and grid integration is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment located in Leeds .
