Power Systems Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their innovative team, working remotely with occasional site visits to Sunderland and other project locations. This role is critical for the design, analysis, and implementation of robust power systems for a variety of infrastructure and industrial projects. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power systems , including substations, distribution networks, and protection schemes.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis using specialized power system software.
• Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, and cabling.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports for power system projects.
• Provide technical guidance and support during the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of projects.
• Contribute to feasibility studies and conceptual design for new power infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power systems.
• Significant experience (5+ years) in the design and analysis of electrical power infrastructure .
• Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory).
• Strong knowledge of protection relays, system grounding, and power quality.
• Familiarity with relevant national and international power system standards (e.g., G59, IEC standards).
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently on complex projects.
