About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, short-circuit, and stability analyses for high-voltage transmission and distribution systems.
• Design protection schemes, including relay settings and coordination studies, to ensure system safety and reliability.
• Develop and review electrical system designs for substations, power plants, and renewable energy integration.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical due diligence for new power system projects in the Leeds region.
• Contribute to the development of grid connection agreements and regulatory compliance documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex power system challenges.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience specifically in power systems engineering.
• Expertise in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• In-depth knowledge of power system protection principles, equipment, and standards.
• Experience with renewable energy integration, grid codes, and energy market dynamics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
