Power Systems Engineer - Grid Integration

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to focus on grid integration , joining their innovative team in Plymouth . This hybrid role is essential for managing the technical challenges associated with connecting renewable energy sources and other distributed generation to the national grid. You will be responsible for ensuring grid stability, reliability, and compliance with all regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of power system dynamics, protection schemes, and electrical engineering principles, contributing to the sustainable energy future while balancing on-site and remote work requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess the impact of new generation sources on the existing power grid infrastructure.
• Develop and implement strategies for safe and efficient grid integration of renewable energy projects.
• Perform power flow, short circuit, and stability studies using specialized simulation software.
• Design and specify protection schemes and control systems for grid connection points.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, relevant standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with grid operators, developers, and internal teams to manage project interfaces and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Proven experience in power system analysis, grid connection studies, and electrical design.
• In-depth knowledge of power system dynamics , stability, protection, and control.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Familiarity with grid codes and relevant industry standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, adaptable to a hybrid work environment.
