Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Power Systems Engineer to join their team in Plymouth, Devon . This role is integral to the design, analysis, and operation of electrical power systems, supporting critical infrastructure projects. You will be involved in all stages of the power system lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies to detailed design, implementation, and performance monitoring. Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyse electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Develop power system studies, such as load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
• Specify and select electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and reports for power system projects.
• Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of projects.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices in power systems engineering.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of grid codes, protection schemes, and power quality issues.
• Experience with renewable energy integration or grid modernisation is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
