About the Role
Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and analytical Power Systems Engineer to join their esteemed team in Cambridge . This role focuses on the design, analysis, and optimisation of electrical power systems for a range of applications, including renewable energy integration and grid infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Perform power flow, short circuit, and stability studies for complex electrical networks.
- Design and specify protection schemes and control systems for power generation and distribution assets.
- Contribute to the integration of renewable energy sources (solar, wind) into existing power grids.
- Analyse system performance data to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with clients, project teams, and regulatory bodies on technical aspects of power system projects.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Power Systems Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in power system analysis and design.
- Proficiency in using power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
- In-depth understanding of power system dynamics , protection principles, and grid integration challenges.
- Experience with renewable energy technologies and their grid integration is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
