Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Power Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Portsmouth . This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work remotely alongside regular in-office collaboration. You will be responsible for the analysis, design, and operation of complex power systems, ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of energy. This role is crucial for supporting the integration of new energy technologies and maintaining the stability of the national grid. The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical foundation in power systems engineering coupled with practical application experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, fault, and stability analyses for electrical networks.
• Design and specify components for power generation , transmission, and distribution systems.
• Develop and implement protection schemes and control systems for power networks.
• Contribute to the planning and integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues within the power system.
• Ensure designs and operations meet all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for electrical infrastructure .

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in power systems analysis and design .
• Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DigSILENT PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of grid operations, protection principles, and substation design .
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication abilities.
