Power Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Power Systems Engineer to join their team in Edinburgh . This role is critical for the design, analysis, and operation of electrical power systems. You will be involved in projects ranging from grid infrastructure upgrades to the development of renewable energy integration solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in power engineering and practical experience in applying these principles to real-world challenges. Key Responsibilities

• Perform power flow, fault, and stability analyses for electrical transmission and distribution systems.
• Design and specify equipment for power systems, including transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
• Develop and implement protection schemes and coordinate relay settings.
• Contribute to the planning and design of grid connections for new generation facilities, including renewables.
• Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and recommend operational improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in power system analysis and design.
• Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution principles.
• Knowledge of power system protection and control strategies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
