Precision Agriculture Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a forward-thinking Precision Agriculture Specialist to drive the adoption and optimization of advanced technologies on farms in and around Sheffield . This hybrid role involves working both on-site at farms to implement and troubleshoot precision farming systems, and remotely to analyze data and provide strategic advice. You will guide farmers in utilizing GPS, sensors, drones, and data analytics to improve crop yields, optimize resource use (water, fertilizer, pesticides), and enhance overall farm efficiency and sustainability. Your expertise will be key to modernizing agricultural practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage precision agriculture technologies, including GPS guidance, VRT systems, and sensors.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret farm data from various sources (e.g., yield monitors, soil sensors, drone imagery).
• Develop customized farm management plans based on precision data to optimize inputs and maximize yields.
• Train farmers and farm staff on the use and benefits of precision agriculture tools and techniques.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with precision farming equipment and software, providing timely support.
• Stay current with emerging trends and innovations in precision agriculture and advise clients accordingly.

Requirements

• Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field with a focus on technology.
• Proven experience with precision agriculture systems, tools, and data analysis platforms.
• Knowledge of GIS, remote sensing, and data management principles in an agricultural context.
• Familiarity with farm machinery and their integration with precision technology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and training abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
