Are you a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in a welcoming primary school?

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Sunderland from September 2026 . This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the classroom, supporting pupils and teachers across the primary age range.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will work across the school, delivering high-quality learning experiences, providing classroom cover where required, and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be confident working independently and as part of a team, adapting to the needs of different year groups.

The role will initially run until December 2026 , with a strong possibility of being extended until April 2027 .

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A recognised Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification .
• Recent experience working within a UK primary school.
• Experience supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 .
• The confidence to lead whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher.
• Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
• A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to supporting teaching and learning.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
