About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal AI Ethicist to join their pioneering team in Southampton , contributing to the responsible development of AI & Emerging Technologies . This vital role involves shaping and implementing ethical frameworks to ensure our AI systems are fair, transparent, and accountable. You will work across various departments, advising on ethical considerations, conducting impact assessments, and fostering a culture of responsible AI innovation. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and refine ethical guidelines and principles for AI development and deployment.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI initiatives and products.
• Advise engineering, product, and legal teams on ethical best practices and compliance.
• Engage with external stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers on AI ethics topics.
• Contribute to internal training and awareness programs on responsible AI.
• Stay abreast of evolving ethical standards, regulations, and societal concerns related to AI.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on technology ethics.
• Significant professional experience (7+ years) in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology policy.
• Deep understanding of AI technologies and their societal implications.
• Experience in developing ethical frameworks, conducting impact assessments, and advising diverse teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to navigate complex ethical dilemmas and provide practical, actionable recommendations.
