About the Role

Our client, a distinguished architectural consultancy based in Leeds , is seeking an expert Principal Architectural Historian to lead their heritage and conservation division. This senior position involves undertaking in-depth research, analysis, and reporting on historic buildings and sites to inform conservation strategies and new design proposals. You will work on a range of fascinating projects, advising on the historical significance and material integrity of structures, and collaborating with conservation officers, clients, and design teams to ensure sensitive and appropriate interventions. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive historical research and archival investigations for heritage assets.
• Prepare detailed heritage statements and conservation management plans.

• Collaborate with design teams to develop sensitive proposals for listed buildings and conservation areas.

Requirements

• A postgraduate degree in Architectural History, Conservation, or a closely related field.
• Extensive experience in architectural conservation and heritage consultancy.
• In-depth knowledge of UK architectural history and conservation principles.
• Proficiency in historical research methodologies and report writing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication abilities.
