Principal Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Chemical Engineer to spearhead critical engineering initiatives within their organisation. This senior role, operating in a fully remote capacity, will involve providing expert technical leadership, strategic planning, and innovative solutions for complex chemical processing challenges. You will be a key player in driving efficiency, safety, and sustainability across various projects, collaborating with a diverse, geographically dispersed team. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams on complex process design and optimisation projects.
• Lead the development and implementation of advanced chemical processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and FMEA analyses to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Oversee the selection, design, and commissioning of process equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines for major chemical engineering undertakings.
• Represent the company in technical discussions with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical engineering, with a significant focus on process design and project leadership.
• Extensive knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale chemical engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence technical teams remotely.
