About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and innovative Principal Data Scientist to join their leading energy markets team, working entirely remotely. This senior position will involve leveraging advanced analytical techniques and machine learning to uncover insights from complex energy market data, driving strategic decision-making and optimizing trading strategies. You will be at the forefront of using data to predict market trends, assess risks, and identify new opportunities in the dynamic global energy landscape. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy sophisticated machine learning models and algorithms to forecast energy prices, demand, and supply dynamics.
- Analyze vast datasets related to energy markets, weather patterns, economic indicators, and policy changes to identify key trends and correlations.
- Design and implement data-driven strategies for energy trading, risk management, and portfolio optimization.
- Collaborate with traders, analysts, and software engineers to integrate data science solutions into operational workflows.
- Communicate complex findings and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through compelling visualizations and reports.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the advancement of the company's data science capabilities and best practices.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of experience in data science, with a strong focus on predictive modeling and machine learning in energy markets or finance.
- Proven expertise in Python or R, including libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Deep understanding of time series analysis, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a passion for tackling complex challenges in the energy sector .
