Principal Data Scientist – National Security (TIRE)

THE ROLE

This position is working within the Turing Integrated Research Engineering (TIRE) team to support the Turing’s national security partners though developing AI and Data science solutions. It will work across a cross-disciplinary team, developing new projects and authoring research proposals. This position will contribute to team research and tool testing, and is expected to provide to lead on multiple technical projects. A large portion of the role is to represent TIRE to internal and external stakeholders as well as supporting the career development of staff within the group.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced Data Scientist with a proven track record of applying AI, machine learning and advanced analytical techniques to complex, real-world challenges. You'll combine deep technical expertise with strong software engineering practices, thrive in collaborative multidisciplinary environments, and confidently engage with senior stakeholders across the Institute and with our partners. Eligibility for DV security clearance is essential, with current or recent DV clearance highly desirable.

Terms and Conditions

This post is offered on a fixed term basis, at an annual salary of £82,500 plus excellent benefits, including flexible working and family friendly policies. Further information can be found on our website.

This role will be based at the Hub8 MX working space in Cheltenham.

Eligibility for Developed Vetting (DV) clearance is a requirement for this role. Eligibility criteria and further information on the process can be found on the UK Government security vetting website. Applicants should check if they are eligible for DV clearance before applying to this role.
