Principal Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead their Power Distribution team based in Edinburgh . This senior role demands extensive knowledge in the design, planning, and execution of complex power distribution networks. You will provide technical leadership, mentor a team of engineers, and engage directly with major clients on strategic projects. The position operates on a hybrid model, requiring a balance of office-based strategic planning and team management, alongside occasional site visits and client meetings. This is a pivotal role for an influential engineer looking to shape the future of energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of high-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems .
• Provide expert technical guidance and oversight to the electrical engineering team.
• Develop and implement strategic asset management plans for electrical infrastructure.
• Engage with clients to understand their needs, propose solutions, and manage project scopes.
• Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards, and quality benchmarks.
• Drive innovation in power distribution technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in power systems engineering , with a focus on distribution.
• Demonstrated expertise in network analysis, protection schemes, and substation design.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent is highly desirable.
