About the Role
Our client, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead significant projects from their Manchester base. This senior role involves the strategic planning, design oversight, and technical leadership for major electrical infrastructure projects, with a focus on grid-scale renewable energy systems. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of large-scale electrical systems for renewable energy projects (e.g., wind, solar, battery storage).
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers, fostering a culture of high performance.
- Develop and review complex electrical engineering designs, specifications, and calculations for major projects.
- Engage with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams, to ensure project success and alignment.
- Oversee the technical aspects of procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring project delivery within scope, budget, and timeline.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering , specializing in power systems or renewable energy.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in a senior or principal engineering role, with a strong track record in renewable energy projects.
- In-depth knowledge of grid codes, interconnection standards, and power system stability.
- Proven ability to lead and manage complex engineering projects and teams.
- Expertise in high-voltage equipment, power electronics, and substation design.
- Excellent strategic thinking, decision-making, and leadership capabilities.
