Principal Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Principal Electrical Engineer to spearhead critical projects in their Coventry facility. This senior position involves providing expert technical leadership and strategic direction for the electrical engineering department. You will be instrumental in defining engineering strategies, resolving complex technical challenges, and driving innovation across a range of industrial automation and manufacturing initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical principles and a proven ability to influence and guide technical teams towards achieving ambitious project goals and maintaining high standards of operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership and mentorship across all electrical engineering activities.
• Develop and implement advanced electrical system designs, including schematics, control panels, and automation solutions.
• Oversee the lifecycle of electrical components and systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead root cause analysis for complex electrical issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Interface with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to define project requirements and ensure successful project delivery.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices, championing their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on industrial applications.
• Extensive knowledge of PLC programming , SCADA systems, and industrial networks.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Expertise in risk assessment and safety compliance, including functional safety standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
