About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished and strategic Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their expert team in Belfast , Northern Ireland. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex geotechnical investigations and site characterization programs for major energy projects.
• Provide expert technical advice on foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, and ground improvement for onshore and offshore energy infrastructure.
• Develop detailed geotechnical interpretative reports and design recommendations, ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
• Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and technical direction.
• Liaise effectively with clients, project managers, regulatory bodies, and other disciplines to ensure project success.
• Review and approve geotechnical designs, specifications, and contract documents, ensuring high standards are maintained.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant exposure to the energy sector .
• Extensive experience in foundation design (e.g., piled foundations, shallow foundations) for large-scale infrastructure.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geological processes.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
