Principal Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and authoritative Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead their geotechnical division in Glasgow . This senior role involves overseeing complex ground investigations, foundation designs, and earthworks for a wide array of infrastructure and building projects across Scotland. You will be instrumental in shaping the geotechnical strategy, mentoring a team of engineers, and liaising with key clients and stakeholders to ensure the successful and safe delivery of challenging projects. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage comprehensive geotechnical investigations , including desk studies, site reconnaissances, and detailed ground profiling.
• Undertake advanced geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and earthworks.
• Prepare high-quality geotechnical reports, specifications, and contract documents for a variety of project types.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level geotechnical engineers.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and contributing to tender submissions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international geotechnical standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent.
• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on design and project management.
• Extensive knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, GeoStudio , and relevant modelling tools.
• Proven experience in managing teams and leading multi-disciplinary projects.
