Principal Industrial Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Industrial Engineer to provide strategic leadership and technical expertise for their operations in Oxford . This senior role is responsible for developing and implementing advanced strategies to optimise production processes, enhance overall efficiency, and drive significant cost savings. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and champion a culture of continuous improvement grounded in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. This hybrid position allows for both impactful on-site engagement and the flexibility to conduct strategic analysis and planning remotely, ensuring optimal operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic planning and execution of major process improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
• Analyse complex production systems, identify critical bottlenecks, and design innovative solutions for optimisation.
• Develop and implement advanced Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma strategies to achieve world-class operational performance.
• Oversee the design and re-engineering of facility layouts, material flow, and workstation ergonomics.
• Mentor and guide a team of industrial engineers, fostering technical growth and project success.
• Establish performance metrics, conduct root cause analysis for deviations, and drive corrective actions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a strong focus on operational strategy and leadership.
• Expert-level knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification strongly preferred).
• Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale process improvement projects and achieving measurable results.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
