Principal Mechanical Engineer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. While the role is remote, occasional travel to the Cambridge area may be required for strategic meetings and team-building events. You will be responsible for leading the technical direction of key mechanical engineering projects, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of design and execution. This is a leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and mentoring other engineers in a distributed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership and strategic direction for complex mechanical engineering initiatives.
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced mechanical systems and products.
• Conduct rigorous engineering analysis, including advanced simulations (CFD, FEA), and validate designs.
• Define and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and documentation for remote teams.
• Collaborate effectively with global, remote cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones.
• Mentor and guide other mechanical engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on design and advanced analysis.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading complex engineering projects and delivering innovative solutions.
• Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAE tools and methodologies.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, particularly in a remote setting.
