About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically astute Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their esteemed engineering division in Edinburgh . This senior role is critical for driving complex engineering projects, providing expert technical guidance, and mentoring a team of engineers. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from conceptualization and detailed design through to validation and production support. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced mechanical systems and products, ensuring adherence to project requirements and quality standards.
- Conduct advanced engineering analysis , including structural, thermal, and dynamic simulations, to predict and optimize system performance.
- Develop and oversee complex testing procedures and validate designs against technical specifications.
- Provide expert technical leadership and mentorship to a team of mechanical engineers, fostering best practices and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure successful product realization and seamless integration.
- Present technical designs, analysis results, and project progress to senior management and stakeholders in Edinburgh .
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on design and analysis.
- Expertise in advanced CAD/CAE tools and simulation techniques (e.g., FEA, CFD, Multibody Dynamics).
- Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of materials science, manufacturing processes, and international engineering standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, strategic thinking, and strong leadership presence.
