About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to spearhead critical projects from their Newcastle upon Tyne base. This senior role involves leading the technical direction for major mechanical engineering initiatives, from initial concept generation through to final product validation and launch. You will be at the forefront of innovation, tackling complex engineering challenges and guiding a team of talented engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for complex mechanical engineering projects.
- Develop innovative designs for mechanical components and systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Oversee and conduct rigorous FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis to optimize designs.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending adoption where appropriate.
- Author technical documentation, reports, and design reviews for senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in mechanical design and analysis, with a focus on complex systems.
- Proven expertise in advanced simulation techniques and tools.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing engineering teams or projects.
- Exceptional understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information effectively.
