About the Role

Our client is looking for a distinguished Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative research and development department in Manchester . This senior role involves leading complex engineering projects, providing expert technical direction, and contributing to strategic decisions that shape the company's technological future. You will be at the forefront of designing and developing advanced mechanical systems, tackling the most challenging engineering problems and mentoring a team of highly capable engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership and direction for complex mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Develop innovative mechanical designs and solutions for novel applications, ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability requirements.
• Conduct advanced stress analysis , thermal analysis, and vibration studies using sophisticated simulation software.
• Mentor and guide a team of mechanical engineers, fostering their technical growth and ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and technical strategies.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance design efficiency and product innovation.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related advanced technical field.
• Over 12 years of comprehensive experience in mechanical design, analysis, and product development, with a significant portion at a senior or principal level.
• Deep expertise in advanced simulation techniques , including complex FEA, CFD, and multi-physics modeling.
• Proven experience in leading R&D projects and translating cutting-edge research into practical engineering solutions.
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes , materials science, and system integration.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence technical direction.
