About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote team, working from anywhere in the UK. As a Principal Engineer, you will be the technical authority on major projects, driving innovation and setting the engineering direction. You will tackle the most complex challenges, mentor junior engineers, and influence the technological roadmap. This role demands deep technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate autonomously and lead complex technical initiatives in a remote-first culture. You will be at the forefront of developing groundbreaking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert technical leadership and guidance on critical mechanical engineering projects.
Develop and implement advanced engineering strategies and best practices.
Solve highly complex design and performance issues, often requiring novel approaches.
Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering their technical growth and sharing knowledge across the team.
Lead the definition of technical requirements and architectural designs for new systems.
Represent the engineering team in technical discussions with stakeholders and clients.

Requirements

PhD or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related technical field.
12+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on design and analysis.
Demonstrated expertise in areas such as thermodynamics , fluid dynamics, structural analysis, or control systems.
Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and drive innovation.
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience working effectively in a remote collaborative environment .
