Principal Process Engineer

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development of efficient and practical process design solutions for water and wastewater projects. Review and approve design deliverables, reports, specifications, and DRAs. Check and approve mass balances, process sizing, hydraulic calculations, and PFDs. Review control philosophies and commissioning strategies. Provide technical guidance across projects and support tender submissions. Direct and mentor engineers and graduates. Ensure designs meet technical standards, professional guidance, and water company requirements. Lead HAZOP, ALM, KM, and other technical review meetings. Estimate design hours and support project planning. Drive continuous improvement in process engineering standards and practices.

Requirements

10+ years' process design experience within the regulated water industry. Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and plant design. Proven delivery of process design on water and/or wastewater projects. Chartered Engineer status (or near Chartered). Degree, HND, or significant practical experience progressing from technician level. Strong IT and digital capability. Experience across both clean water and wastewater beneficial. HAZOP experience (ideally as Chair) and tender support beneficial. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred
