About the Role
Our client is seeking a distinguished Principal Process Engineer to join their leading energy operations based in Cardiff . This senior position involves leading the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex industrial processes within the energy production landscape. You will be instrumental in ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance, working on challenging projects that shape the future of energy infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual design, detailed engineering, and commissioning of process systems for energy projects.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
- Conduct process simulations, hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies, and risk assessments.
- Optimize existing processes for improved efficiency, cost reduction, and environmental performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process engineering teams.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental legislation in the UK energy sector .
Requirements
- Extensive experience (12+ years) as a Process Engineer in the oil, gas, or power generation industry.
- Proven track record in leading process design and project execution from concept to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and chemical engineering principles.
- Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development tools.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities essential for projects in Cardiff .
