Principal Research Scientist - Neuroscience

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Research Scientist with deep expertise in Neuroscience to drive innovative research programs in Edinburgh . This is a critical leadership role focused on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurological disorders and translating these discoveries into novel therapeutic strategies. You will lead a team of scientists, design experimental strategies, and contribute significantly to the company's research pipeline. This position requires a visionary leader with a strong publication record and a passion for unraveling the complexities of the brain. You will work on-site, utilizing world-class research facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct cutting-edge research projects focused on neurodegenerative diseases, neuroinflammation, or psychiatric disorders.
• Design and oversee complex in vitro and in vivo experiments to elucidate disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets.
• Mentor and manage a team of research associates and scientists, fostering scientific excellence and collaboration.
• Analyze and interpret complex biological data, guiding experimental direction and decision-making.
• Develop and implement novel assays and methodologies relevant to neuroscience research.
• Author high-impact publications and present research findings at international scientific meetings.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of post-doctoral research experience in academic or industry settings, with a focus on neuroscience.
• Proven track record of independent research, grant funding (if applicable), and impactful publications.
• Expertise in key areas of neuroscience, such as molecular mechanisms, neuropharmacology, or neurodegeneration.
• Experience leading research teams and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
